Five Star Hotel
Ireland's luxury hotels. The range is from medieval castles, through prestigious country clubs with golf courses to first class city hotels that cater for both the business and tourist visitor. All 5 star guest accommodation includes rooms of a high standard, luxury suites and apartments. Ireland's 5 star hotels boast some of the country's best restaurants and offer table d'hôte, a la carte lunch and dinner menus. Exceptional services and a personalised welcome can be expected in these hotels.
Four Star Hotel
These include modern hotels of excellent quality and charming period houses renovated to very high standards complete with al modern comforts. All guest accommodation is luxurious with suites and half suites available in most cases. Restaurant facilities provided excellent cuisine and service for the discerning dinner. Table d'hôte and/or a la carte lunch and dinner menus are available.
Three Star Hotel
Most hotels in Ireland are of this standard and these range from small, family operated premises to larger, modern hotels. Guest rooms are well decorated with the emphasis on comfort and all have a private bathroom with a bath and/or shower. Restaurants offer high standards of cuisine in a relaxed and hospitable surroundings. Table d'hôte and/or a la carte dinner menus are available.
Two Star Hotel
These are more likely to be family operated premises, selected for their charm and their comfortable facilities. All guest rooms have a telephone and most have a private bathroom with a bath and / or shower. Full dining facilities are available, representing excellent value and good wholesome food.
One Star Hotel
These premises offer all mandatory services and facilities to a satisfactory standard - some guest rooms have a private bathroom with a bath or a shower.
Room Standards
A brief description of terms used to describe rooms:
Standard Bedroom: This indicates that there is not a bathroom within the bedroom. In this case there will be shared bathroom facilities in the corridor. Usually there will be a wash hand basin within the room.
En-Suite Bedroom: This indicates that there is a private bathroom within the bedroom. This will always contain a WC and wash hand basin, plus a shower and / or bath.
Deluxe (B&B): The standard of B&B accommodation in Ireland is considered to be very high and deluxe rooms would be available in high end B&Bs and guesthouse accommodation. Deluxe rooms would often have additional furniture or Jacuzzis in the bathroom - check the description
Single Room: Designed to accommodate ONE person only. The room contains one single bed. (approx. 3' x 6' 3 or 1m x 1.9m)
Double Room: A double room is designed to accommodate two people only. The room genrally contains one queen bed. (approx. 4' 6 x 6' 3 or 1.4m x 1.9m)
Twin Room: A twin room is also designed to accommodate two people only. The room contains two single beds. (approx. 3 x 6' 3 or 1m x 1.9m)
Suites / Apartments are designed to provide a more spacial and luxurious environment. They normally range from one to three bedrooms, with a separate lounge area and bathroom, sleeping two people per room. Some suites and all apartments contain a small kitchen.
Family Rooms.
There are two main types of rooms for families or groups:
Triple Room: A triple room is designed to accommodate three people only.
The room will contain either: One queen and one single bed / Three single beds.
