What is a Green Meeting or Event?

Going green is a fast growing trend in the MICE industry. Much more attention is now being paid to the environmental impact of all industries worldwide including meeting industry.
A green meeting or event incorporates environmental considerations to minimise its negative impact on the environment.

Basic greening tips

All catering plates, cups and glasses to be china or glass (non-disposable). If plastic, they must be washable (biodegradable or compostable is better).
Condiments to be served in bulk containers, not individual servings, to save packaging. This includes sugar, coffee, milk, etc.
All napkins to be cloth whenever possible.
Separate recycling bins for attendees to use at all catered functions, registration, and especially on the exhibit floor.
All handouts to be printed on two sides using post-consumer recycled paper.
